Agility and scalability remain among the top requirements for business leaders looking for IT solutions that help prepare for the Asean Economic Community (AEC) at the end of this year, according to enterprise applications company Infor.

Speaking during its Infor Next Malaysia 2015 event in Kuala Lumpur, Infor's vice president for Asean & India, Helen Masters said: "In the wake of the current economic landscape, businesses and enterprises are now looking for ways to better insulate from market uncertainties by improving production processes, increasing productivity and expanding profits while reducing long-term IT expenditure."

Masters focused on cloud-driven micro-vertical focused solutions that help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and enterprises in Malaysia to generate increased value from IT investments and realise greater efficiency.

"Companies in the region are re-evaluating their IT infrastructure and on premise applications - primarily due to high capital investment," she said.

"Business leaders are increasingly shifting to cloud-based solutions that provide the flexibility and scalability needed to succeed," she added.

Key industries

Masters said that Infor's latest suite of business software solutions, designed for flexibility and customisation across key industries, help Malaysian business leaders meet the demands of today's increasingly integrated and competitive markets and attain the agility needed for growth.

These key industries in Malaysia included manufacturing, F&B and logistics. "By bringing Infor Next to Malaysia, Infor is sharing with local business leaders how the latest cloud-based enterprise software solutions help deliver a stronger return-on-investment and a reduced total cost of ownership. For example, Infor CloudSuite Industrial is more cost-effective than traditional capital investments in IT because it eliminates the need to purchase additional on-site servers and hardware, or hire additional IT staff, justifying the switch," she said.
