IT and networking solutions provider NEC Corporation of Malaysia has launched a bundled retail solution, NEC's Retail-in-a-Box, includes support for sales tracking to meet the new Goods & Services Tax (GST) requirements, which is to come into effect from 1 April 2015.

Andrew Lee, managing director of NEC Corporation of Malaysia, said the all-in-one retail solution has been designed for self-installation for easy set-up, and included NEC's modular point-of-sale hardware system and retail management software, as well as a monitor and receipt printer.

"The Retail-in-a-Box solution is well-suited to small and medium enterprises [SMEs] who can easily afford the system through our subscription plans," said Lee.

"It especially benefits retail and F&B traditional stores as well as chain stores that need a streamlined and convenient solution, which can automate the sales tracking process and effectively manage the GST requirements," he said.

Lee said that NEC has already rolled out retail point-of-sales solutions for convenience stores and retail chainstores within Asia Pacific, with retailers such as 7-11 and Alfamart. He added that in 2013 the company opened a Retail Business Service Centre to support the Asia Pacific region.

In addition, value-added features can provide analysis and intelligence to help with sales tracking and inventory planning, said Lee.

The system can be ordered with an all-in-one subscription model with monthly subscriptions and no upfront payment or with a one-time payment for the system.

NEC's Retail-in-a-Box solution will be distributed by Dancom, a leading distributor, and is now available to businesses nationwide across all states in Malaysia through their network of 11 branches across the country servicing 5,000 dealers, along with their dedicated IT and support teams.
