Microsoft recently partnered telco HKT to enable small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in Hong Kong to thrive in the new world of work and be more competitive.
According to Microsoft, the new world of work requires businesses, especially SMBs, to be more responsive, embrace mobility and improve security.
In Microsoft's recent New World of Work study, 59 percent of the 400 Hong Kong businesses polled claimed that they are required to respond to external customers within four hours. However, only 16 percent felt that they are well equipped to do so.
The study also found that the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend is becoming increasingly pervasive, with 47 percent of the respondents claiming to be using their personal devices for work on a daily basis. This makes it crucial for businesses to be able to control and manage data on all devices.
Microsoft and HKT are thus offering the HKT x Office 365 business cloud solution to SMBs to help them enhance their productivity and operational efficiency while securing their data. Through this solution, SMBs will not only be able to leverage Office 365 to access, edit and view files across any devices and platforms, but also take advantage of administrative tools to ensure account management in real-time. This includes configuring user privacy and access authority, and various security measures to protect sensitive data.
Starting at HK$78 per month per user, the solution includes HKT Advanced Email, HKT Cloud Storage and an Office 365 business plan license with Office 2016 apps. HKT is also offering 24/7 local hotline support, and free introductory workshops and trainings on Office 365 solution to help its SMB customers realise the benefits of the cloud
"SMBs are the cornerstone of the Hong Kong economy [as they constitute of 98 percent of all business enterprises in Hong Kong, according to the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region in May 2015]," said Tom Chan, Managing Director, Commercial Group, HKT. "We strongly believe that this enterprise-grade business cloud application with a full suite of local support services will help SMEs to sharpen their competitive edge."
This partnership marks HKT as Microsoft's first telco cloud solution provider (CSP) partner in Hong Kong. CSP is Microsoft's new programme that leverages its partners to deliver integrated and value-added cloud services to customers embracing the cloud.
As a CSP partner, HKT will take total ownership of customer relationships and sales cycles — from the creation of the cloud subscription to after-sales customer services. In return, customers adopting the HKT x Office 365 business cloud solution will be able to enjoy more flexible billing, 24/7 after-sales support, and value-added services for Microsoft Office 365, thus ensuring SMEs are able to focus on their core business development, said Microsoft.
