Mediacorp overcomes document management challenges with Canon

Mediacorp, the Singapore-based parent company of several media channels, has streamlined its printing and document management process with Canon.

 Mediacorp has employees globally, and local employees work from different locations in Singapore. The company is leveraging Canon's Managed Print Services to deal with challenges that are common with the combined trends of mobility, data analytics, cloud computing and social media.

Before deploying solutions from Canon, staff had to remember PIN numbers or carried an additional card for releasing a print job.

Canon's solution has allowed Mediacorp's staff to use their employee card or their normal corporate login ID and password to release the print job.

"What's great about Canon's printer is that they all work based off uniFLOW, Canon's document management software," said Song Boon Kok, Senior Vice President of Mediacorp's IT Services. "This means that if one printer is under maintenance, the staff can just go to another printer within the same network and release the print job. It's that easy."

Smooth workflow
Mediacorp is experiencing smooth workflow post deploying solution form Canon as these days, maintenance and breakdowns cause little to no hindrance to the workflow at the organisation.

The problem with maintenance is an issue of the past with Canon's printer as they all work based off uniFLOW, Canon's document management software.

If one printer is under maintenance, the staff can just go to another printer within the same network and release the print job.

uniFLOW also allows users to use their existing employee cards or their normal corporate login and/or password to release print jobs.

Mediacorp employees no longer have to carry around a separate ID card or remember a different set of passwords.

"Canon knew that there are no shortcuts in customer service, and the account managers and service engineers take that very seriously," said Song. "Being able to connect with Mediacorp and knowing them is key in building trust, loyalty and sustaining a long-term business relationship."
