Interview: Resilient networks ensured smooth games

T.C. Seow | Aug. 1, 2014
How the SEA Games in Myanmar last year was conducted successfully with the deployment of tested solutions for games management and scoreboarding.

What advice would you give CIOs and IT leaders considering a similar implementation? What are the cost benefits?

It is important to consider all your options and weigh the cost against the criteria that you must deliver on.  For the SEA Games, we identified our priorities from the onset—capacity, reliability, cost and speed of implementation. We needed a solution that met these requirements while achieving the best price/performance and price/reliability ratios.

Being able to virtualise the management system allowed us to provision a new system from an image and saved us time and money from stocking up large and bulky controllers. Our team was able to deliver a successful private network despite the dynamic challenges during an important event in Myanmar with the use of Ruckus vSCG.
