Mobile apps are increasingly used within the enterprise, but building them often involves outsourcing the work or relying on internal development teams. But accessing this expertise is not always easy, or, in - the case of third parties - cheap.
According to analyst firm Gartner, through to 2017 the market demand for mobile app development services is expected to grow "at least five times faster than internal IT organisation capacity to deliver them".
However, a number of companies are aiming to make it simple for those without any coding skills to start creating business apps.
Here are some of the best.
1. Microsoft Windows PowerApps
PowerApps works using various templates that can tap into a wide range of internal SaaS (software as a service) data sources securely, including Office 365, Dynamics CRM, Salesforce, Dropbox and OneDrive, as well as SharePoint, SQL Server, Oracle, SAP and even legacy on-site systems.
PowerApp users can also build on existing data connections and APIs and customise app layouts, helping to manage the data being pulled through and tailor elements.
PowerApps is available on preview immediately and will be rolled out to selected users for testing.
2. The AppBuilder

AppBuilder is the self-titled 'world's leading enterprise mobile app platform'. It provides an online app building toolbox that enables its users to create both internal and external apps, the internal/employee apps can integrate passwords and usernames to protect work-related
content. Users can gain training in how to use the platform or The AppBuilder will populate the app with content for you.
The apps can allow contrent distribution, information capture and internal communications.

Force.com comes from Salesforce and enables its users to 'point and click' and create internal business apps for every department. Customers of Salesforce can sync all their data with the aim to increase productivity and communication in the workplace.
What's more, Force.com allows users to integrate with an already built app and 'get apps for sales, service, marketing, finance, IT, HR, and nearly every other department.'
4. APPrise Mobile
APPrise Mobile has created an internal business app platform called theEMPLOYEEapp. This app platform aids internal communications and the sharing important correspondence.
The platform integrates employee databases and allows push notifications and the sharing of documents, multi-media and live events all though their employees' mobile phones and iPads.
