How network-powered analytics enable better business performance

Gary Newbold | March 4, 2014
ASIC-based network-powered application analytics can address complex requirements of network data capture, aggregation, analysis, correlation and reporting.

Vendors suggest that the better the connection, the better the experience. To guarantee a better user experience, an enterprise must see the network as a strategic business asset. The new groundbreaking technology leverages the network to empower customers and partners to improve interactions with end users, enhance engagement and optimise system efficiencies. This deeper level of insight allows organisations to make well-informed decisions quickly, aimed at improving the user experience.

ASIC-powered solutions are capable of collecting, analysing and reporting application data from the entire network, including wired and wireless devices and core/data centres. They provide unique benefits:

  • Business analytics—Measure and report adoption, usage and responsiveness of applications.
  • IT network management—Accelerate troubleshooting through measurement and reporting of application and network performance, and optimise network design to improve user experience.
  • Network security—Detect use of unapproved and malicious applications to ensure compliance, and recognise instances of shadow IT.

Coupled with a network access control solution, the solutions enhance IT operational and services efficiencies by providing a richer set of analytics: username, location, device type, network policies and more.

Powered by ASIC technology, the solutions provide access to application usage information in flows traversing the network. Typically a customisable signature set will support over 13,000 application fingerprints over 7,000 applications, including enterprise CRM, ERP, HCM, storage, web, collaboration, email, social networks and gaming.
