Polycom, the global provider of open standards based unified communications (UC), has announced the release of Polycom RealPresence Mobile 1.3.
The company has also made significant enhancements to the Polycom RealPresence Platform and introduced new suite of open APIs for RealPresence Platform.
An update to its popular and award-winning mobile video software, the new Polycom RealPresence Mobile 1.3 runs on HTC and more Apple devices. It enables users to control the camera on the other end of a video meeting.
Polycom RealPresence Mobile enables customers to easily connect with other standards-based video environments virtually anywhere in the world, including immersive video theaters and mobile devices.
"With the explosive growth of mobile workforces and the increasing trend towards employees bringing their own devices into the workplace, Polycom and our partners are continually expanding the reach of secure video collaboration to support all devices, operating systems, protocols and networks," said Sudhakar Ramakrishna, president of products and services, Polycom.
Polycom has also made significant enhancements to the Polycom RealPresence Platform enabling service providers to deliver Video-as-a-Service (VaaS) offerings in an easy and cost-effective manner.
The Polycom RealPresence Platform now includes new service provider features that can address the demand for differentiated, cloud-delivered video and UC services that can scale to serve tens of thousands of concurrent customers.
"Video collaboration is the language of business and many small- to medium-sized businesses are increasingly looking to have video collaboration delivered as a service, moving it from a cap-ex to op-ex model," said Ramakrishna. "Service providers are in a unique position to capitalise on this opportunity to increase their revenues and market presence in UC collaboration."
Polycom's rich new suite of open APIs helps the development of custom applications and extends the value of the Polycom RealPresence Platform.
This platform is touted to be the most comprehensive and interoperable UC software infrastructure for universal video collaboration.
Polycom notes that the new APIs extend its leadership in the video collaboration market.
Ramakrishna added: "Our new suite of APIs for the RealPresence Platform will provide this integration and give customers greater flexibility to innovate as they further build out their video collaboration networks to drive significant business value. At the same time, we're delivering more scalability and manageability to IT administrators who are looking to video-enable their organisations."
