Global unified communications (UC) solutions provider Polycom has signed with Malaysia-based distributor Atek Technology to offer a portfolio of UC solutions in Malaysia.

A diversified range of UC solutions including a telepresence solution called Polycom ATX (Polycom Architected Telepresence Experience) will help meet a growing demand for UC solutions, according to Polycom regional director, South Korea, ASEAN, Hong Kong & Taiwan, Chris Taylor.

"These solutions, shown at the Solutions Centre in Petaling Jaya, will deliver the highest-quality video collaboration with the lowest consumption of bandwidth --as much as 50 percent less than competitors - and the lowest total cost of ownership," said Taylor, adding that this investment in the fast-growing Malaysian market solidified Atek Technology's commitment to Malaysian businesses with a shift to support virtual collaboration among people and teams working in multiple locations.

"Our current and prospective customers can now easily experience our UC solutions, ranging from immersive telepresence to mobility to cloud-delivered video services for businesses of all sizes," he said. "Polycom's UC solutions bring people face-to-face from anywhere, creating a highly collaborative environment that significantly improves learning, retention, and engagement, as well as overall productivity and efficiency."

Visitors to the Petaling Jaya centre will have the opportunity to meet with industry experts and get involved in real-life interactive demonstrations of Polycom's collaborative solutions on mobile devices both within the office and specialised environments, said Atek Technology manager, Lin Mei Lan. "Visitors will experience how open standards and full interoperability with the Polycom Open Collaboration Network (POCN), offer greater flexibility and investment protection for their UC environment. The main tenets of the Polycom Open Collaboration Network are standards-based solutions, solutions that are scalable, flexible, multi-network, and able to run in mixed environments."

"Atek Technology shares Polycom's commitment to enabling customers to benefit from improved collaboration, increased productivity and the significant ROI [returns on investment] that can be achieved through the use of telepresence communications," said Lim.
