Fujitsu and Box to develop integrated solutions that encourage collaboration

The partnership aims to power digital transformation for customers by creating a secure, user-friendly, and simple environment where people can thrive.

Fujitsu Limited and file sharing provider Box have entered into a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding with regards to a strategic partnership in the content management space.

Under the partnership, Fujitsu would deploy Box to about 160,000 employees across its internal communication platform from the second half of its fiscal 2016, which ends in March 2017. This aims to empower simple and secure information sharing, as well as consolidated content management, further accelerating collaboration in the enterprise environment. It will also enable control of storage expansion expenses incurred with growing volumes of data, according to a joint press release.

The two companies will also roll out solutions that combine Fujitsu's global communication platform with Box from the second half of its fiscal 2016. They will jointly develop solutions for customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise content management (ECM), and industry-specific solutions such as for manufacturing, retail, and public sectors. This will be done by integrating Box with Fujitsu's solutions, specialised for various industries and with advanced features such as security, mobile devices, network capability, and palm vein authentication. 

In addition, Fujitsu and Box plan to make Box available to Japanese customers as part of the FUJITSU Digital Business Platform MetaArc (MetaArc) from the start of next year. This will allow Box's content to be stored in Fujitsu data centres located in Japan, meeting the needs of those customers who require data storage at data centres inside the country.

The two companies also intend to explore ways to target a wider global market. In Asia, the companies is considering expanding their collaboration with an eye towards joint investments in sales and marketing activities so as to better address the requirements of local customers.
