Malaysia's Karangkraf Media Group (Karangkraf) said it has positioned itself for business growth as well as cut costs and increased productivity with Epicor Software Corporation's ERP (enterprise resource planning) solution.
Speaking of the adoption of the Epicor system, Karangkraf's chief operating officer Syamil Fahim Bin Mohamed Fahim said as Karangkraf has grown from a RM10 (US$2.45) million to RM200 (almost US$49) million business, there was a need for a business solution that could help to adhere to a higher operational standard.
"We have experienced significant growth over the past few years, and needed an ERP solution that would improve efficiency and complement our expanding business needs. We selected Epicor ERP due to its compelling features that build on efficiency, reliability and mobility," said Syamil Fahim.
He said Karangkraf's printing division, known as Ultimate Print, had been using a print-specific ERP solution in 1990, which became increasingly irrelevant so the company decided to implement a home-grown system developed by their in-house IT personnel.
Syamil Fahim said that within a few months after implementing Epicor ERP software, Karangkraf estimated it had saved the equivalent of 50 working days when it came to compiling and analysing data and saved about RM80,000 (almost U$20,000) compared to the previous in-house system.
He said that with this efficient and disciplined business management system in place, Karangkraf's Ultimate Print was now able to gain detailed insights into business processes at the push of a button. Business data was now organised consistently and accessible at any time.
