EMC will be launching a Big Data Analytics Lab in Singapore by June this year, announced the Cloud Computing, Big Data and IT solutions company on 12 March.
The lab will provide a test bed to advance Big Data in Singapore through end-to-end test bed consisting of necessary infrastructure including servers, storage and software, said Eric Goh, managing director of EMC Singapore, during a media briefing.
EMC's plan of a Big Data Analytics Lab is in alignment with the Singapore government's vision of developing analytics professionals over the next five years, which was announced during Singapore Budget 2013.
"Big Data is a cornerstone of EMC's strategy and with the Big Data Analytics Lab in Singapore, we hope to create an environment that facilitates all collaboration efforts," Goh told MIS Asia. "More importantly, we are committed to providing resources for technology providers, enterprises and software developers seeking to undertake Big Data and analytics R&D."
With this lab, EMC hopes to provide organisations with a platform for software engineering and demonstration.
Goh also said EMC will continuously invest in updating the test bed with the latest technology and providing access to early developmental software versions which may not be generally available.
