Students taking the information storage management (ISM) and cloud computing courses from the EMC Academic Alliance (EAA) will now receive EMC Academic Associate credentials upon passing an online technical test.
Created by EMC's technical subject matter experts who have developed the curriculums, the globally standardised test will validate students' skills and industry readiness in those two fields, said EMC. This is because the curriculums and tests focus on concepts and principles of technologies, rather than focusing on features and functions of specific products, to ensure strong relevance in the industry.
"We believe that the talent gap in the emerging Asian markets is increasing every year and it is getting harder for employers to spot the right people," said Krishna Kant, Head of EAA Programme, South Asia and Russia. "The EMC Academic Associate recognition [will address that challenge] and allow students to improve their employability."
The recognition will be rolled out to all EAA Partner institutes over the year. Students who receive the recognition could include the EAA logo and credentials on their resumes, email signatures and social media profiles. Besides that, the recognition would enable students to join EMC's technical community, which will enable them to network, seek and provide advice, and learn more through online forums such as the EMC Proven Professional community.
Big data textbook
With the advent of big data, EMC Education Services has created a book titled Data Science and Big Data Analytics, which is available for purchase on Wiley.com and Amazon. The book will introduce the Analytics Lifecycle, and covers the breadth of activities, methods, and tools that data scientists use that can be applied to any industry and environment.
The textbook is designed for college graduates and other professionals such as analysts, managers, and database professionals, who are eager to start a career in the data analytics field, said EMC. It is also a recommended textbook for students undergoing EAA's data science and big data analytics course.
