Integrating Syncplicity with the Information Intelligence Group portfolio provides a compelling opportunity for organisations, leveraging EMC's rich heritage in enterprise content management, information governance solutions and cloud storage, thousands of enterprise customers who rely on its technology to run their businesses and EMC's strong go-to-market channel. The addition of Syncplicity also extends EMC's strategy of enabling the 'New User' in the Post PC era, those who want to access, share, collaborate and participate in business processes on their preferred device.
How different is it from other products in the market? Do you think it is a game changer?
Syncplicity is unique in the market and we do think it is a game changer. It offers organisations the best of both worlds - a true hybrid cloud model - the software runs in the cloud, but the data resides in their own data centre. This means, the enterprise has the option to choose where their data resides - thus, if you choose, your data stays on the data centre, or if you so choose, the data can stay on the cloud. This also means that the solution is able to adhere to data residency policies and IT administrations can maintain data control within your own data centre.
The consumer-grade usability of the solution means that users can have access to all their files and data on all their devices. Users are able to easily collaborate and distribute files of any size to large teams, internally or externally without a VPN or IT intervention. Additionally, users are able to share access to data with read-only or read-write permissions.
The fact that the solution is enterprise-grade means that IT can easily set central policies for sharing, device access, and data retention as well as enable remote wipe of data and devices in the event of device loss. Plus, files are encrypted every step of the way.
Despite the fact that Syncplicity is owned by EMC, we work with all types of storage vendors, EMC as well as non-EMC vendors. The only difference is that what lies beneath is EMC technology.
