The new imageFORMULA DR-C240 scanner is ideal for multi-tasking, quick turn around, and intelligent image capture for various document formats including passports.

Canon has recently launched its new imageFORMULA DR-C240, a desktop scanner with the capability to handle a wide range of documents, including passports (a first for the imageFORMULA series) and other forms of identification.

With a more compact footprint than its predecessor, the new DR-C240 has been designed to deliver an improved user experience with smarter features such as automatic page size detection and passport scanning capability.

According to Canon, this high-performance scanner delivers duplex scanning with speeds of up to 45ppm/90ipm and handles workloads of up to 4,000 scans per day. With a 60-sheet Automatic Document Feeder, larger batches can also be processed in one go.

The DR-C240 scanner offers user-friendly features to enhance image capture performance. Its operation panel includes intuitive controls to start scanning operations and pre-configure job tasks with one-touch job buttons, minimising setup time. It can also scan different-sized documents in mixed batches to help eliminate document pre-sorting activities, thereby maximising a user's time.

In addition, the DR-C240 is equipped with MultiStream technology, which enables the scanner to simultaneously capture images of different scan modes in just one pass. For instance, one might choose to scan in colour for archiving purposes, while also scanning the image in black-and-white for OCR use. With MultiStream, users benefit from greater efficiency without the need to arrive at differing types of image.

Bundled with both Canon CaptureOnTouch and Canon CapturePerfect software, users can pre-configure scan tasks and choose from a wide selection of file distribution options. With CaptureOnTouch, scanned documents can be sent directly to third-party cloud applications such as Evernote, Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive. This scanner is also bundled with ISIS and TWAIN drivers for easy integration with third-party software.

"The compact yet durable imageFORMULA DR-C240 is so quick and easy to operate that it is ideal for front desk settings such as travel agencies, hotels and hospitals where counter staff is often expected to provide fast and efficient service," said Melvyn Ho, Vice President, Domestic Operations Group, Canon Singapore Pte Ltd. "These scanners capture sharp images of a wide range of documents including passports, travel documents and invoices, and sends them straight into pre-configured folders with just one touch."

The imageFORMULA DR-C240 is now available at all authorized Canon distributors and dealers.
