Avaya’s new solutions to help improve business collaboration

The Avaya Aura Collaboration Environment makes it easy to embed collaboration capabilities into other apps while the Avaya IP Office 9.0 offers mid-market companies with a cost-effective and flexible platform for collaboration

The consumerisation of IT has changed the way employees today work. Employees today seek tools that are easy to use and enable them to be work from anywhere and at any time.

Understanding this, Avaya has rolled out two new software and cloud-based services that help employees to be more efficient and easily collaborate with one another regardless of their location. The new solutions include the Avaya Aura Collaboration Environment, and the Avaya IP Office 9.0.

Avaya Aura Collaboration Environment
The Avaya Aura Collaboration Environment is an application development platform that makes it easy to embed collaboration and communications capabilities into any business applications.

Paul Chen, senior director of Products, Solutions and Innovations for Asia Pacific at Avaya, said the platform enables developers to "focus on building the app and business challenges instead of issues requiring a deep knowledge on telephony or protocols." This is so as the platform uses a single SDK with familiar interfaces.

As the platform uses the snap-in approach, collaboration and communications capabilities are extensible across a diverse array of applications. The capabilities can also be embedded into apps within a day as the platform enables developers to test the applications on it, added Chen.

Applications deployed on the Avaya Aura Collaboration Environment are cloud-ready, as well as automatically scalable, highly available and secure.

The Avaya Aura Collaboration Environment is delivered on the Avaya Aura core unified communications platform.

Avaya IP Office 9.0
Designed for midmarket companies, the Avaya IP Office 9.0 is a single software platform for collaboration that offers flexible deployment options, simplified management, and support for enterprise branch.

The Avaya IP Office 9.0 is able to deliver a seamless collaboration experience across voice, video and mobility for up to 2,000 users at up to 32 locations. This lowers the total cost of ownership, which is beneficial especially for larger and/or growing businesses, said Chen.

Avaya has also added flexibility to the method of deploying the Avaya IP Office 9.0. As the platform is able to run inside a virtual machine, on a dedicated server, an appliance or a combination of these, customers can match the deployment method to their infrastructure plans and objectives.

Besides that, the Avaya IP Office 9.0 provides a consolidated management view of a multi-site IP office solution through a one-time log in to a single URL. Through the IP Office Web Manager for Server Edition feature, customers will have access to a range of servers, along with solution-wide user management, and simplified management. Mid-market companies using this solution can therefore reduce administrative overhead, said Chen.

The Avaya IP Office 9.0 also supports multiple branch office deployment options. The branch office can be a standalone, independent branch, or connected to the Avaya Aura network in distributed and centralised branch modes.
