The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in Singapore recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus, an aerospace company.
Under the agreement, A*STAR's capabilities in data analytics solutions will be applied to a wide array of applications related to the aviation industry. For instance, analytics can be used to better predict flight arrival times to reduce passenger delays, which will translate to significant savings for the aviation industry.
According to Axel Krein, Airbus SVP Research & Technology, the new developments resulting from the partnership will offer its customers new ways "to reduce their fuel consumption through speedier and more effective analysis of their operational data."
To further support the aviation industry, A*STAR has set up the Advanced Remanufacturing & Technology Centre (ARTC) to bridge the technological gaps in remanufacturing. The ARTC currently has 15 members which include multinational corporations and local small and medium enterprises.
