App development not keeping up with device updates

Jack Loo | May 22, 2013
A global survey says a third of IT leaders describe their mobile development team as sluggish, middling or outpaced.

Meanwhile, the data from the Singapore respondents indicate a growing interest in developing apps for the mini tablet. A quarter said they are venturing into this area and this figure will rise to 38 percent in the next two years.

Forty-eight percent of CIOs in Singapore outsource 25 to 50 percent of their mobile application development work. Sixty percent of CIOs in Singapore describe their mobile development team as very good, well-prepared and ready to tackle most challenges.

"The exponential use of mobile devices for commerce, gaming, social networking etc in Singapore and Asia has set very high expectation by users on performance of mobile applications," said Steven Lee, general manager, Micro Focus ASEAN.
