Managed Print Services (MPS) and Basic Print Services (BPS) market in Asia Pacific excluding Japan (APeJ) region grew 16.4% year-on-year in 2013 to reach US$2,693.5 million.
A newly released report by IDC indicates that Australia and South Korea continue to be the two key drivers in this region contributing about 48% of the APeJ market.
The other top three markets in the region are the People's Republic of China, Thailand and Singapore.
IDC expects this growth trend to sustain as MPS vendors foray into the mid-market for new MPS opportunities in order to offer value-add solutions to customers.
"There are plentiful of MPS opportunities out there. Vendors, however, need to know which ones to capitalize on by clearly identifying their target audience, service/solution offering and value proposition prior going into any MPS engagement," said Junhua Sia, senior market analyst for Imaging, Printing and Document Solutions (IPDS) research at IDC Asia/Pacific. "By doing so, they can then clearly differentiate themselves from the other vendors and have a higher chance of winning the deal."
Growth in SMB segment
Small-Medium Businesses (SMBs) segment is now offering plenty of growth opportunities for MPS, which was initially targeted at Enterprise customers.
The growth in the SMB segment is faster than the Enterprise segment in countries such as Australia and Singapore.
The channel partners have joined hands with MPS vendors to deliver customized MPS packages to the end customers.
Channel partners double up as traditional printer/copier providers and IT services providers and the MPS vendors work more closely or directly with the end customers.
MPS vendors are also considering incorporating solutions in the MPS contracts as a value-added to customers.
