The partnership will bring Docker Hub and Docker Datacenter to China to enhance the user experience from development to production.

Alibaba Group has partnered Docker to advance user experience for developers throughout China.

Under the agreement, developers in China will be provided a Docker image store and distribution for Docker Hub on Alibaba Cloud. This means that users will have a turnkey solution for creating distributed applications leveraging the content from thousands of Dockerised services available in the Docker Hub hosted repository.

Since Docker Hub will be hosted locally in mainland China on Alibaba Cloud, users will experience faster downloads and UI response rates, enabling them to ship applications more frequently than before, according to a joint press release..

Alibaba Cloud will also resell Docker Datacenter, an integrated platform for developers and IT to collaborate, bringing improved security, policy and controls to the application lifecycle without sacrificing agility or application portability.

According to Docker's research, with Docker Datacenter, organisations have an enterprise-ready management solution that allows developers to ship 13 times faster while giving operations teams the ability to seamlessly migrate these workloads to the cloud. Customers operating Docker Datacenter on premises also report significant improvement in operational efficiency, 10 times or more improvements in density and dramatically improved application portability to any infrastructure.

Commenting on the partnership, Sicheng Yu, Vice President of Alibaba Group and General Manager of Alibaba Cloud Global, said: "As enterprises in China and throughout the world begin to modernise their application environments, there has been an increasing demand for an easy solution to deploy Docker on Alibaba Cloud. Our partnership with Docker will bring enterprises the full lifecycle management needed to scale existing implementations into production."

Echoing Yu, Nick Stinemates, Vice President, Business Development & Technical Alliances at Docker, said: "Through our partnership, we [aim to] make it easier for organisations of all sizes to containerise legacy applications, accelerate their digital transformations and build new microservices using Docker and Alibaba Cloud."
