Singapore’s IDA unveiled its Infocomm Technology Roadmap outlining nine technology trends that will shape the future. We asked various enterprise IT heavyweights for their perspectives on the Roadmap, and first up, we have consulting firm Accenture.

The benefits of the digital moves are clear. The airline enjoys strong engagement with its targeted demographic. It has more 1.4 million fans on Facebook and more than 324,000 followers on Twitter. It has cut 40 percent from its contact centre costs by integrating customer service into its social media platforms. The airline also won the best low-cost-airline award from Skytrax, an advisor to the air transport industry, four times, in addition to numerous other awards.

Internet of Things

Accenture Mobility provides management and technology consulting services to help our clients develop mobility strategies, mobility business and technology plans, and design mobility solutions to drive additional enterprise and customer value. 

The scope of services may include market assessment and sizing, competitive assessments, enterprise mobility planning and design, vertical mobility offering evaluation and design, mobility channel design, employee needs assessment, mobility application architectures/blueprints, mobility technology and device planning, etc.

The world is rapidly approaching billions of Internet-connected users, tens of billions of connected consumer electronic devices and hundreds of billions of commercial or industrial connected devices. These new devices are placing demands on enterprises and consumers around the globe. Internet of things is essentially about objects that are connected to the Internet, communicating and cooperating with one another.

In a highly connected and networked world, customers today value and expect personalised, proactive, predictive, participative and partnership-based services. 

Accenture helped a large player in the energy industry to develop a logistics strategy that identified the sources of costs and benefits throughout its logistics and fulfilment operations. Business and technology expertise were applied across the full spectrum: from a "pragmatic" approach to emerging telematics technologies to the delivery of a supply chain solution that includes strategy, business adoption, application integration, product development and project management. Positive benefits were seen in rail asset utilisation, logistics spending, order lifecycle management, consignment management and rail equipment management.
