Find out more about the new Photoshop CC features on Adobe's blog.
2014's new Illustrator CC features
Illustrator has been given some new features with the update, too. Live Corners means that designers are now able to reshape and adapt the corners of their vectors using the live corners tools. You could make individual corners more rounded, for example, without needing to redraw them.
The Pencil tool has been completely rebuilt, with a new fidelity slider that lets you choose how smooth or accurate your lines appear as you draw. You can also now control the arc on any segment of the vector by simply clicking and dragging.
2014's new InDesign CC features
Adobe hasn't left InDesign out of the mix in its latest update. The desktop publishing software has been given some new capabilities that should speed up workflow, and also some new EPUB interactivity enhancements.
The first of the improvements is simplified hyperlinks. Designers can now right click on a web address ('www.digitalartsonline.co.uk', for example), and choose 'Hyperlink from URL'. InDesign will also monitor whether hyperlinks within the document are valid by displaying a green circle for live links and a red circle for dead links.
The dreaded missing fonts should be a thing of the past with the new ability to find fonts in TypeKit. If you open an InDesign document that uses fonts that are not installed on your computer, you'll now have the option to find and install these fonts from TypeKit, presuming it's one of the 899 fonts available in TypeKit, that is.
TypeKit now available for InDesign and Illustrator
Talking of TypeKit, Adobe has finally introduced the ability for designers to get access to its library of Typekit fonts from within desktop applications - including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and non-Adobe apps too. Within the Fonts tab of the Creative Cloud launcher there is now a new button that provides access to the TypeKit library.
Currently 210 of the Typekit's 938 web fonts are available for use in your desktop applications.
