IT professionals with experience in application development, virtualisation, security and compliance are highly sought after in Hong Kong, according to recruitment firm en world Hong Kong.
Despite the high demand for these professionals, the majority of high calibre IT professionals are not proactively looking to change jobs. They are, however, interested in hearing about potential opportunities in the market, said Bernard Yeo, country manager of en world Hong Kong.
One of the five IT jobs that will be in demand this year, as predicted by en world, is smartphone application developers. This demand is largely driven by enterprises' increasing interest to enter the mobile app market to target the large number of smartphone users today. Average salary for smartphone application developers is expected to range between HK$30,000 (US$3,870) and HK$40,000 (US$5,161) per month.
Organisations in Hong Kong will also be looking to hire specialists of Human Resource Information System (HRIS) this year. Since HRIS specialists will focus on matching the skills of a jobseeker with respective openings, they will be required to process and handle personal data, said en world. HRIS specialists can expect a monthly salary between HK$35,000 (US$4,516) to HK$45,000 (US$5,806).
Implementation and project managers will be highly sought after too. Playing a significant role when it comes to the growth of a company, these managers will need to be able to handle client requirements effectively. An expert implementation manager can expect a monthly salary between HK$50,000 (US$6,451) and HK$60,000 (US$7,741), according to en world.
As compliance is becoming increasingly important today, organisations might plan to hire IT compliance officers or IT auditors to ensure that they are always respecting all the laws and regulations that are applicable. Professionals holding this post will likely to be paid anywhere between HK$35,000 (US$4,516) and HK$ 45,000 (US$5,806) a month.
IT operations managers will also be in demand this year. These managers will need to handle sensitive projects, important clients and primary developers, as well as connect different departments of a company when it comes to projects and tasks. A junior manager can expect a salary of about HK$50,000 (US$6,451) while an experienced manager might take home more than HK$60,000 (US$7,741) per month.
