Datacom has opened the doors to a new Melbourne office, with plans to add 100 local jobs as the company's extensive regional growth continues.
Officially opened by Victoria's Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade, Hon Philip Dalidakis, the new facility becomes the third Victorian office for the IT services provider, adding to offices in New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia and the Philippines.
"We're delighted to expand our footprint in Victoria, which is a thriving part of Datacom," says Jonathan Ladd, Group CEO, Datacom.
"We'd like to thank Minister Dalidakis and are proud to be working with the Victorian government and local business to help create jobs by transforming local business through the power of IT.
"We think globally, and work locally to help produce an innovation economy in Victoria and across Australia."
Ladd says the new South Melbourne office will employ an additional 100 local staff over the coming 12 months, covering software solutions and app development, Cloud consulting and professional services.
"The opening of Datacom Systems' new South Melbourne office comes hot on the heels of a host of major investments by Australian and global tech companies that are boosting Victoria's reputation as the number one tech destination in the Asia Pacific region," Minister Dalidakis adds.
"The Andrews Labor Government is excited to work with companies like Datacom as Victoria's booming tech sector spurs our transition to new industries and new jobs."
At present, Victoria's tech industry now generates more than $34 billion in annual revenue and employs more than 91,300 people.
"I am especially proud of the team we have assembled in Victoria," says Scott Green, Director, Datacom Systems Victoria, recently honoured as a Reseller News Hall of Famer.
"Our success is in no small part due to their hard work and expertise.
"We will continue to grow by focusing on the state government sector, and across the banking and financial services industries, health, transport and logistics.
"Victoria is a great place to do business, and we thank the state government for their support."
Established in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1965, Datacom now employs over 4,000 staff across the region.
