Unilever extends IT outsourcing deal with BT by three years

The consumer goods company has been working with the telecoms giant since 2002.

Consumer goods giant Unilever, owner of brands that include Wall's Ice Cream and Dove beauty products, has extended its IT outsourcing deal with BT by three years.

This is the third time the contract has been extended since BT first began working with the Anglo-Dutch company in November 2002. The outsourcing agreement has been valued at over £1 billion since it was first signed over a decade ago.

BT will deliver a fully integrated network providing voice, data, video and mobility services to Unilever's 173,000 employees across nearly 100 countries. It will also deliver audio-conferencing and video-conferencing.

Unilever hopes that through the use of collaborative technology to encourage flexible working, it will be able to reduce travel spend, increase productivity and efficiency and drive down costs.
