4. Majority of the respondents (73.5%) are top IT executives in their organisations, out of which 73.4% are on their executive management teams.
5. 28.4% report directly to their CEOs. This pattern remains consistent across 6 countries except for The Philippines.
6. Respondents' main activities vary according to their IT staff strengths. When the IT staff is small (< 20), the focus is on learning about technologies and interacting with external parties such as vendors, outsourcers and service providers. Those with larger staff numbers more than 20 tend to focus on strategic planning and interacting with other internal executives.
7. The projected IT headcount for the next 12 months remains unchanged, by and large. Only exception is The Philippines where demand for IT headcount is expected to rise (63.2%).
8. Interestingly, ignoring the absolute amount of their IT budgets, the percentage for non-discretionary and discretionary items are mostly the same, at 70% and 30% respectively.
9. For most of the respondents, all aspects of IT are centrally managed.
10. The top five business processes that are currently improved with IT are accounting & finance (67.9%), human resources (55.8%), inventory management (53%), customer service/support (46.5%) and sales (46%).
11. While 69.8% of the respondents do not outsource their IT labour, those who do say they plan to increase their outsourcing strategy for almost all the systems except for "Human Resource Management" and "Research & Development" that seem to be the least important and thus remain unchanged in the coming year.
