Venturing into digital space
Advanced technological tools are reshaping the operations of businesses across the verticals. According to Mauch Franco, CIO of Shakey's Pizza, technology has evolved from a business enabler into a business essential.
With this in mind, Shakey's Pizza is leveraging 3rd Platform technologies to overcome hypercompetition in the food and beverage (F&B) industry and improve its customer experience.
On cloud, the company deployed a hosted solution that could provide a scalable, reliable, and secure service. The company also deployed advanced analytics to replace 22 existing standalone systems; and integrate its core financial, procurement, inventory and warehouse management, reservation and table management, recipe and kitchen management, and point-of-sale (POS) and loyalty management.
"We've ensured that the solutions deployed are well-integrated. For example, if we create pizza under kitchen management with the configuration of recipe manage list, we are aware of the ingredients that are being consumed on a third product basis; this actually deducts the inventory. Your office can actually do automated procurement since it can monitor the inventory levels at the stores on a real-time basis," explained Franco. The analytics tool can also help improve the quality of data, as well as, the data warehouse of the company.
In terms of mobility, Franco said they will be using tablets and mobile phones for remote access of systems.
On the social front, the company is active on major social network platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
As Shakey's Pizza ventures into the digital space and go paperless, Franco assured that there will be a drastic change in how the company will operate - through maximising the use of 3rd Platform technologies - to improve customer-experience.
"To survive obsolescence and hypercompetition, it is imperative to maintain a culture of transformation and innovation. Focus on creating value for our customers, and everything else will follow. Leveraging on technology is a business essential and technology is now a magic formula. It is only as good as the people behind the execution, so let's take care and maintain good people," expounded Franco.
