Subsidiary of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), IDA International announced today (Wednesday, April 9, 2014) an agreement it had made with the Information Technology Authority (ITA) of the Sultanate of Oman. Signed on Tuesday (April 8)-"at the sidelines of Oman's leading IT and Telecom Show, COMEX 2014," said the IDA-the agreement was for IDA International's delivery of consultancy services to enable the transformation and streamlining of the Omani Ministry of Manpower's visa clearance processes. Also, IDA International will be conducting a study on ways to enhance inspection processes to do with labour welfare management in Oman.

Commenting on the agreement, IDA International CEO Vincent Wong said, "As the public workforce in Oman becomes increasingly technologically savvy, it is imperative that smarter ways of work are adopted to enable more effective delivery of government services to citizens and residents in the Sultanate. Singapore and Oman share a common vision in bringing about greater value creation for the country and our people through innovative public sector ICT. We are happy to leverage our core strength in eGov consultancy to support the Omani government's advancement toward eTransformation."

The agreement looks to be the first major step down the road of collaborative efforts in eGovernment between Oman and Singapore. Describing it as "timely as it is in line with the ITA's eGovernment Transformation Plan, which seeks to accelerate and automate internal processes and procedures within government agencies, and ultimately, bring about better government services to end users, and greater operational and procedural efficiency within the Omani government," IDA representatives pointed out they had also led a delegation of seven Singapore technology companies to COMEX 2014 in Oman, and jointly organised an eGovernment Transformation Seminar with ITA "to facilitate exchange of best practices and thought leadership on strategies to bring about eGovernment transformation."

The IDA-led delegation to COMEX 2014 include system integrators CrimsonLogic Pte Ltd and Simple Solution Systems (SIMSYS) Pte Ltd, enterprise software solutions provider SQL View Pte Ltd, and mobility solutions companies TreeBox Solutions and V3 Teletech.
