Polycom acquires Accordent technologies for US$50 million

The acquisition expands Polycom’s market by US$500 million.

SINGAPORE, 24 MARCH 2011 - Polycom, a videoconferencing company, announced today that it has acquired video content management provider Accordant Technology for some US$50 million in cash.

The acquisition is said to position Polycom as the leader in the video content management and delivery market. According to a statement by Polycom, this acquisition expands the company's total available market for the video management segment by US$500 million.

Accordent reportedly had US$9 million in 2010 revenue and has more than 1,200 customers.

Accordent's solution, which delivers live webcast technology and rich media webcasting, will be integrated with Polycom's unified communications solutions.

"We believe Accordent has the most elegant video content management solution on the market," said Polycom's chief development officer Sudhakar Ramakrishna.
