Microsoft Singapore has re-vamped office space making the concept of 'New World of Work' a reality for its workforce of 1200.
Responding to today's dynamic business environment, Microsoft Singapore has ensured that there are no assigned desks or private offices for managers and employees in the working area.
Managers and employees can work anywhere in the office by using a PC, handset, webcam or smartphone.
Microsoft Singapore has also re-designed its office space to better align with the nature of the work allowing employees to choose the space that best suits their work activity.
The company claims that this strategic move has resulted in a 16 percent reduction in office footprint while having sufficient capacity for the next four years.
"At Microsoft, we actively encourage our employees to work from wherever's most productive for them - whether that's in the office, at home or somewhere else," said Tracey Fellows, area vice president, Microsoft Asia Pacific.
Increase in productivity
'New World of Work' seems to be working for Microsoft Singapore as a recent survey conducted with its employees reveals an increase of 54 percent in their productivity levels.
Forty-nine percent of the employees surveyed said they collaborate more with their colleagues and 77 percent reported an improvement in their working environment over the previous one.
Microsoft has already seen the benefits of its New World of Work initiative across its offices in Australia, Vietnam, Philippines and Malaysia.
Looking forward, it will roll out this initiative in New Zealand, South Korea, Bangladesh and Indonesia over the coming months.
"The challenge for businesses and organisations is creating a culture where employees feel trusted to decide how and where they work and giving them access to technology that means they can be productive and still be part of the team," added Fellows.
