Mahindra Satyam plans expansion into Philippines and Vietnam

Zafar Anjum | April 29, 2011
The IT services company is also looking for partners in Japan and China, says its Asia Pacific head.

Focus on new technologies

According to Gandhi, Mahindra Satyam is focusing on new technologies such as cloud computing, desktop vistualisation, green IT, social media and mobility services.

In the cloud play, Satyam has already tied up with Amazon. The company is providing analytics as a service in Singapore. It is also working on a government supported digital concierge service for Singapore.

While Gandhi admitted that companies are still hesitant to adopt the public cloud, he said there is a huge uptake of internal private cloud. Satyam has also started cloud advisory services in the region to soften the ground for the adoption of more cloud services.

For green IT, Satyam is offering its carbon-reporting software. One of its unique offerings is fuel-analytics for airlines. Gandhi said Mahindra Satyam is looking to develop expertise in airlines IT and making it one of its top verticals.

In mobility, Gandhi said Mahindra Satyam has a huge capability in Sybase-based mobility technologies.  The company has signed an agreement with Sybase Software last year to provide secured enterprise mobility solutions to customers globally. Mahindra Satyam's solutions based on Sybase Unwired Platform (SUP) helps system integrators and independent software vendors develop, deploy and manage mobile applications.
