How blogging can help CIOs create a brand value

Debarati Roy | Feb. 13, 2013
Saurabh Gupta, head--IT, Metahelix Life Sciences, believes that blogging and tweeting not only helps CIOs build a better brand value for themselves, but also helps their peers and colleagues through knowledge sharing.

Choosing where you can host your blog also needs some consideration. If you want to manage your own blog with a virtual host service provider, you can choose from WordPress (easiest and highly recommended), Drupal, Joomla and many other options.

There are some easily-available tools that help you understand the kind of audience that is reading your blogs, what the most read or popular posts are, and how you can optimize this knowledge to draw more people to your blog. Google Analytics helps you track your visitors and build a trend. Google Webmaster can be used to upload your sitemaps. Create as many back-links as possible to your site. But be careful to use relevant websites only to provide you with back-links because back-links to spam sites will give you a negative ranking.

Saurabh Gupta is the head--IT at Metahelix Life Sciences. He has more than a decade's experience of working in various areas such as strategic planning, application design, development and implementation, and project management among others. In his free time, he enjoys helping Internet startups in setting up secure and scalable infrastructure and doing penetration testing of networks.
