The cloud will continue to be a mainstay of Asian CIOs' agenda as customers are looking for ways to more effectively manage their IT systems and optimise business environments. The Asia-Pacific region sees a wide disparity in terms of business adoption of cloud services. Usage differs among markets, but the common denominator is that businesses are increasingly using, or planning to use the cloud to help minimise costs and improve access to services and applications. Essentially, organisations are moving away from trying to understand the cloud to making decisions on where to implement cloud services. 2012 will also see a rise in organisations exploring public cloud services. While still in its early stages, Gartner predicts that public cloud services will grow five times faster than overall IT enterprise spending in the next four years.
Dell has been rolling out a comprehensive array of cloud solutions for businesses of all sizes, to help them migrate to the cloud, as well as test-bed cloud deployments. We are investing US$1billion to deliver leading solutions, services and cloud-based delivery options, including the opening of Dell Solution Centers around the world. The centres are technical labs with extensive customer engagement capabilities, giving customers access to Dell technology and solutions experts. Our centre offers Architectural Design Workshops which explore the best solutions to suit the customers' requirements and business needs, and Proof of Concept testing to make sure the solution will work in the customers' environment.
4) And how is your organisation looking to address these areas of opportunities?
The uncertain economic outlook for 2012 will definitely see CIOs act on the side of caution on how they spend their money and what they spend it on. At the same time, this presents an opportunity for Dell in delivering on its promise of end-to-end solutions.
Through our strategic acquisitions and our R&D, we're able to deliver on this promise as we continue to expand our offerings to existing customers as well as cater to new customers.
Our recent acquisition of Force 10, a leader in high-performance data centre networking, has enabled Dell to offer customers a broader range of enterprise offerings. Force10 solutions provide enterprise performance and resiliency while reducing overall total cost of ownership (TCO), simplifying network deployment, and supporting open, standards-based systems and management solutions. With these capabilities on hand, 2012 will see us having a strong focus on integrating these networking capabilities in our offerings for our customers.
We've also been listening to our customers and they're telling us that today's disruptive marketplace is creating unique challenges for their individual industries. Customers are also demanding their IT providers have an "insider's knowledge" of their issues and offer solutions and strategies designed for their particular industry's challenges. Dell has been deepening our industry expertise and focusing on industry-specific solutions within the different verticals. Our efforts will continue into 2012 as we see industries gaining traction across education and healthcare.
