Partnership between network providers and systems integrators are on the rise. IBM joined forces with AT&T early last year, and HCL Technologies and Tele2 formed a partnership in March. “We believe as the value of IoT-enabled services become more mainstream in the broader digital ecosystem, we may see more such partnerships,” Joshi says.
As for the Cognizant and Verizon deal, “it’s too early to tell what the real benefits will be for clients,” says Rudd. Enterprises working with either Cognizant or Verizon should seek additional information from their providers. “Buyers need to peel the onion beyond the ‘digital’ hype [of this] partnerships [to find out] what value-add this partnership can bring and how they can leverage it.” If IT organizations do see some promise in this alliance, they may need to make some adjustments as well. “They need to consider them for a broader set of services and more strategic initiatives,” Joshi says. “This will require a significant change in customer’s culture, mindset, as well their vendor management office.”
