The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) issued a statement on Tuesday (March 13, 2012) calling for nominations for the latest edition of the National Infocomm Awards (NIA), a biennial recognition programme for organisations in Singapore that are currently demonstrating: highly "innovative use of infocomm technology" that yield "significant improvements in productivity or competitiveness"; and/or, delivering "innovative infocomm products and services" that "benefit their customers."
The period for submission of entries runs from March 13, 2012 through June 30, 2012, and winners of the NIA 2012 will be feted at a gala dinner scheduled for sometime in October 2012.
The organisers-IDA and the Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF)-are looking to hand out a total of five main awards, and up to nine merit awards this year, in two main categories: Most Innovative Use of Infocomm Technology, under which are subcategories for organisations in the public and private sectors (including one for SMEs); and, Most Innovative Infocomm Product/Service, for which only Singapore-registered organisations and companies qualify.
With reference to the programme, Ronnie Tay, CEO of the IDA, and co-chairman of the NIA 2012 Steering Committee, said: "In today's digital landscape where technology and trends move rapidly, innovation is a key enabler and strong competitive advantage for both public and private organisations. The National Infocomm Awards aims to recognise the spirit of innovation through the development or adoption of infocomm products, services or solutions in Singapore. Through the inspiring success stories of the winners, we hope that more organisations will continue to pursue innovative ideas in infocomm."
Chairman of the SiTF and also co-chairman of the NIA 2012 Steering Committee, Eddie Chau, concurred with Tay on the inspirational effect of their awards programme. "The NIA is a well-received award in the industry that helps to create awareness on the importance of infocomm innovation in business growth and success," said Chau. "[The] SiTF is fully supportive of this prestigious award as it celebrates the best in infocomm."
The winners circle of the NIA 2010 includes: Integrated Health Information Systems, the National University Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital; Resorts World Sentosa; GTW Holdings; and, Ephone International.
