Singapore is the top female-friendly place to work in financial services, according to financial recruitment eFinancialCareers' diversity survey.
The survey polled nearly 5,000 professionals in the banking and finance sector globally, of which 1,244 of them are living and working in Singapore.
When asked if they would recommend their company to a female friend, 87 percent of the respondents in Singapore said yes. Australia comes in second with 83 percent, followed by the UK and US with 82 percent each.
Despite scoring well in terms of creating a female-friendly working environment in the financial sector, Singapore could do more in terms of equal compensation and representation at senior levels. While 89 percent of the respondents thought that women are equally represented at junior positions, only 66 percent of them felt that women were fairly represented at senior levels. Moreover, the survey found that over two thirds of women respondents believed that men were paid more than women in equivalent positions.
