Singapore employers keen to hire fresh graduates: jobsDB

New graduates are easy to train, able to cope with fast-paced environments, and are eager to learn, say respondents from the recent Hiring Index Survey.

Jobseekers may rejoice as 67 percent of the companies in Singapore are looking to hire in the next three months, according to jobsDB's recent Hiring Index Survey.

The survey also revealed that most of the available jobs are for junior executives (81 percent) and entry level (52 percent) positions. Job vacancies for fresh graduates from local institutions include administration and office support (33 percent), sales (29 percent), engineering (22 percent) and accounting (18 percent).

Employers are keen to hire new graduates as they are easy to train (50 percent), able to cope with fast-paced environments (46 percent), and are eager to learn (46 percent). However, common mistakes made by fresh graduates when applying for jobs and during interviews might be hindering them from being employed. The common mistakes, according to the respondents in the survey, are:

The jobsDB Singapore Hiring Index Survey was conducted from 14 June to 17 July 2013 and canvassed the opinions of over 233 companies in Singapore.
