Newly-appointed Bjorn Engelhardt will be responsible for leading the team across six APJ markets, driving Riverbed’s sales and distribution strategy, and building on the strong foundations in place in the region.

Riverbed Technology named today Bjorn Engelhardt as the new Senior Vice President of its Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) operations.

Based in Singapore, Engelhardt will be responsible for leading the Riverbed team across its six APJ markets, driving the company's sales and distribution strategy, and building on the strong foundations in place in the region.

According to a media statement, Engelhardt has 20 years of business, IT and consultancy experience, including security, data centre and virtualisation, network and application infrastructure, software-as-a-service (SaaS) and emerging technologies.

Prior to this new role, Engelhardt most recently served as the Actifio's Vice President and General Manager, APJ. He has also held other senior leadership roles with other companies such as Symantec, KVS Software and Citrix Systems Inc.

"Bjorn is coming onboard at an exciting time in the growth of Riverbed's business in APJ.  Our industry is at a crossroads, with businesses in APJ looking for more agility as networks and enterprises are more virtual, hybrid and mobile," said Paul Mountford, Chief Sales Officer, Riverbed.

"Our evolution to meet the challenges of hybrid enterprises and deliver relevant solutions for software-defined networks presents a huge opportunity for Riverbed in this part of the world. Bjorn's proven leadership and experience as an IT veteran, together with his deep understanding of the markets, will be crucial to the continued success of Riverbed in APJ," he added.
