Panasonic Australia has appointed Richard Tassone director of its new look consumer electronics group.
The appointment comes just five days after outgoing managing director Steve Rust announced he would leave the company. He will be replaced by Paul Reid, Panasonic's Nordic region boss.
Tassone will head up a restructured consumer group, which has been split into two divisions - Home Appliance and Air Conditioning Group, and the Home Entertainment and Imaging Group.
Rust said the structural changes were part of a long term strategy to continue to deliver greater business efficiencies.
"Under the new structure, there are two group manager roles: one driving the success of the Home Appliance and Air Conditioning Group; and the other heading up the Home Entertainment and Imaging Group," he said.
Tassone, who was formerly GM, marketing, CEG, said he was delighted to take on the new role and and looked forward to continuing to build the growth of the CEG portfolio.
"This transformation allows us to reposition resources and skills within the CEG division in the right place to drive greater responsiveness," he said.
"We are also supporting the new structure by redeploying resources into market analyst roles to increase our strengths in the areas of analysing and planning, giving us a deeper understanding of the changing needs of our customers."
He said the Home Appliance and Air Conditioning would be headed up by Sophie Barton, who was previously Group Marketing Manager for Home Appliances. "We're currently recruiting for the Home Entertainment and Imaging position and look forward to sharing this news in the coming weeks."
