Obamacare repeal could hurt the gig economy

Still, Langeman said one member cited the cost of healthcare under the ACA and questioned whether those costs are sustainable along with other monthly costs.

For Fiverr's Messenger, "If Congress puts forward a plan that is an adequate replacement for Obamacare, that would certainly be a good outcome for us."

But so far, that not what's being promised by Congress, said Messenger. And "you can imagine how unsettling it is for members of our community" to hear about plans to repeal Obamacare without a replacement.

"I would expect President-Elect Trump would want to help the gig economy, not damage it," said Messenger, pointing to it as a growing sector of the economy.
