Microsoft Singapore appoints new Consumer Channel Group Director

The newly-appointed Colin Cheng will be responsible for driving the momentum of Microsoft’s consumer business in Singapore.

Microsoft Singapore has named Colin Cheng as its new Consumer Channel Group Director, the software, services and solutions provider announced today.

His new role requires him to drive the momentum of Microsoft’s consumer business in Singapore. Specifically, he is directly responsible for overseeing the growth of various business categories for the consumer market. According to its media statement, Cheng manages the OEM, Retail, Consumer Hardware & Software and Channels with partners such as mobile operators and hosting service providers; and also helps develop and implement go-to-market plans for Windows Phone.

Cheng is a veteran in the technology industry, with 30 years of experience in regional IT and consumer sales, marketing and general management. Prior to joining Microsoft, Cheng has also held several leadership positions in Apple South Asia, SupportSoft Asia Pacific, and IBM.

“In today’s fast-paced, ever-changing world, there is a need to deliver the best user experience to consumers. Colin’s addition to the team is indeed timely, and will strongly position us to meet and deliver these expectations,” said Jessica Tan, Managing Director of Microsoft Singapore.
