Security vendor McAfee has recruited from within the company in its quest for a new Asia Pacific president.

Andrew Littleproud, whose previous role was Australia and New Zealand vice president, will now be responsible for McAfee's business operations across North Asia, South East Asia, India and A/NZ. He will remain in Sydney. Prior to joining McAfee four years ago, Littleproud was EMC's regional director.

He replaced Steve Redman who was promoted to executive vice president of global sales and relocated from Sydney to McAfee's Santa Clara headquarters in the United States.

According to the vendor, Littleproud's priority is to extend McAfee's reach in APAC and concentrate on consumer programs such as the AustralianbCyberwise education module which was jointly developed by Life Education and the security company.

The program is designed to teach primary school students about online dangers such as becoming 'friends' with strangers and cyber bullying. The program will be rolled out to Australian schools from 4 February 2013.
