The growing importance of the Asia Pacific (APAC) region in the finance sector has propelled MasterCard to appoint two Co-Presidents for its newly created sub-regions.

Ling Hai will oversee the North East Asia and Australasia (NEAA) sub-region, while Ari Sarker will lead the South East Asia and South Asia (SEASA) sub-region. Both Co-Presidents will be based in Singapore, and will be replacing Vicky Bindra, President for APAC.

With more than 22 years' of experience in financial services and consulting across various markets, Ling was most recently MasterCard's Group Executive of Enterprise Development for International Markets. He joined MasterCard in 2010 as the Division President of Greater China.

Prior to this appointment, Sarker was MasterCard's Division President for South Asia and Country Corporate Officer for India. He has held senior management roles across key markets in the Americas, Europe and APAC in the finance, commercial and merger and acquisitions sectors.

The move to create sub-regions reflects the company's more focused approach for APAC's diverse markets. "We see enormous potential for the Asia/Pacific region, and with this new regional reorganisation, we intend to further build on our already strong business momentum across the overall geography," said Ann Cairns, President of International Markets, MasterCard.
