Lenovo names new Singapore GM

IBM Think product veteran has management, and sales and marketing responsibilities.

Chinese computer maker Lenovo has named a new country general manager for its Singapore operations.

Lee Chown How, an IBM Think product veteran, reports to Koh Kong Meng, general manager & executive director, Lenovo ASEAN. In his new role, Lee is responsible for the management and operations of the Singapore office, coupled with sales and marketing responsibilities.

US-educated Lee was formerly ASEAN Think Product Team Lead of IBM until it was acquired by Lenovo in 2005. In this role, he was responsible for the range of Think products, such as the ThinkPad, ThinkCentre and ThinkStation. For this job, he was credited for introducing products that contributed to ThinkPad's product leadership in the region.

Lee's appointment came as Lenovo claims it continues to outpace the personal computer market for six consecutive markets. In the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region, Lenovo's market share grew by 1.3 points year-to-year to reach 6.9 percent share in the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2010-2011, which is from January to March 2011.
