Organisations must continuously improve learner engagement in the e-learning programmes they offer to their employees, according to a recommendation by the cloud based learning solutions provider, Skillsoft.
A press statement by the vendor said the recommendation is included in its report, "Learning and Development Trends in Asia Pacific," which it had recently released.
The report called learner engagement a key factor that impacts work performance and talent retention.
Thus, the need for organisations to continually improve learner engagement.
The statement said 42% of learners indicated time constraints as the most pressing problem.
It added the survey showed 64% of learners acknowledged the benefits of individual learning approaches.
On the other hand, 87% of organisations in the Asia Pacific provide learners with both classroom learning and e-learning.
Thus, there is "a need for a change in delivery channels for learning content that needs to be addressed."
Pointed out was the fact that according to the survey, 82% of learners preferred to access learning materials on their mobile devices while only 44% of organisations offered learning resources on mobile platforms.
In addition to improved learner engagement, the report said two other key areas need to be addressed, namely: assurance that budgets for learning programmes suit the diverse needs of learners and clearer alignments between learning investments and strategic business goals.
Skillsoft is British owned with head offices in Dublin Ireland.
The survey took place in 12 markets in the Asia Pacific, namely: Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The sample size involved 250 learners and decision makers in more than 150 businesses in 20 industry sectors.
Data from more than 300 businesses and organisations across 20 industry sectors also formed part of the survey, according to the statement.
