The (ISC)² Foundation has opened its application period for the 2015 Women's Information Security Scholarship and Faculty Exam Voucher programmes.
The (ISC)² Foundation Scholarship programme aims to fill society's need for trained cybersecurity professionals by building the workforce of the future through meaningful scholarships, and is open to current and aspiring information security professionals.
The Women's Scholarship programme was created to inspire women to join the ever-growing field of information security. Up to three scholarships totaling up to US$40,000 will be awarded.
On the other hand, the Faculty Exam Voucher programme was created to encourage more academic participation in the profession and the certification process. Qualified university or college faculty members will be provided with a voucher valid for one CISSP, CSSLP, CAP, CCFP or HCISPP exam and upon certification, the first year of Annual Maintenance Fees.
"Our latest research found that only 11 percent of the global information security profession is comprised of women. As part of our concerted effort to bring more women into the industry, the (ISC)² Foundation introduced the Women's Scholarship programme to provide the kind of financial assistance that allows many of these students to continue their studies," said Julie Peeler, director, (ISC)² Foundation.
"Our Faculty Exam Vouchers provide educators with the knowledge and credentials needed to teach students the value of continuing education in a cyber world that's constantly evolving. I look forward to awarding deserving faculty and students through these and other scholarship programmes this year," she added.
The (ISC)² Foundation evaluates applicants based on academic excellence, passion for the industry and financial need.
The (ISC)² Foundation will accept applications for the 2015 Women's Scholarships on January 1 to March 31, 2015. Meanwhile, the Faculty Exam Vouchers application period is from January 1 to December 31, 2015, with the first application period closing March 31, 2015. The application period for Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarships will open March 1, 2015.
