Finding talent with the right corporate fit is one of the top challenges, said recruitment agency Robert Walters Friday when releasing results of its CFO survey.

A total of 500 CFOs from multinationals to small organizations across various industries in Hong Kong--including FMCG and consumer products, logistics and supply chain, IT and telecom, banking and financial services, property, legal, and retail, according to the firm.

While 32% of respondents report finding the right talent with the appropriate organizational fit as a top challenge, issues like securing the right talent(22%) and managing employee expectation (16%) are also challenging in terms of recruitment, Robert Walters said.

The top three challenges CFOs face in running their business include:

  • driving the current revenue/profit base: 28%
  • recruiting and retaining the best finance talent: 21%
  • managing cost: 20%

"We are seeing a rise in demand for accounting and finance professionals across all levels of seniority," Matthew Bennett, Managing Director, Robert Walters Greater China. "Apart from the pre-requisite technical skill sets, these individuals are required to be commercially astute in order to better collaborate with top management on business decisions."
