Ex-Cisco President Rob Lloyd has landed a new gig as CEO of Hyperloop Technologies, a company looking to develop a new mode of transportation for commerce and people. Lloyd blogged about his new role here.
In his blog, Lloyd noted parallels between the Hyperloop vision and mission - championed by PayPal co-founder Elon Musk -- and that of Cisco. Hyperloop is looking to disrupt transportation by building a high-speed conduit for commerce based on tubes and pods buzzing around at 740mph; Cisco disrupted just about every industry and economy and standard of living by building the equipment that serves as the infrastructure of the Internet.
Hyperloop's disruptive vision and its technology team also played roles in Lloyd's decision to become CEO, he says in his blog. And he says it's a "perfect fit" for him due to the potential it has compared to what Cisco did.
