Dimension Data has appointed Steve Lam as its new Country Managing Director for Hong Kong.

According to an announcement by the ICT services and solutions provider, Steve takes over from Francis Pang, who retired earlier following a long and successful tenure.

Prior to joining Dimension Data, Steve was Managing Director of Dell Hong Kong and Macau, where he successfully transformed Dell Hong Kong from a mainly hardware-focused operation into a successful IT services and solutions business.

"All our country leaders have a vital role to play in implementing key strategic initiatives to standardise, optimise and scale our business in line with our aggressive expansion plans this year. I am confident that Steve Lam will be a real asset to our Hong Kong team, growing the business and continuing to enrich our portfolio of service offerings such as IT-as-a-Service and IT Outsourcing," said Sunil Desai, Chief Operating Officer, Dimension Data Asia Pacific.

Prior to his role at Dell, Steve held a number of sales, marketing and senior management positions with Hutchison Global Communications and major global IT vendors including 3Com, Nortel, EDS Electronic Data Systems, Digital Equipment Corporation and IBM.

A native of Hong Kong, Steve holds an MBA in Marketing from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and BA (Hons.) in Economics from the University of Toronto.

In Asia Pacific, Dimension Data operates in over 60 offices across 13 countries.
