Online hiring in IT, Telecom/ISP and BPO/ITES sector in Singapore and Philippines saw growth between July 2015 and 2016.
This is according the latest Monster Employment Index (MEI), a monthly analysis of online hiring activities of employers in the Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia.
Singapore recorded the highest growth in online recruitment activity for this sector with 14 percent year-over-year (YoY), a two percentage point increase from 12 percent YoY growth between June 2015 and 2016.
In the Philippines, the number jumped from four percent YoY growth between June 2015 and 2016 to nine percent YoY growth between July 2015 and 2016.
In comparison, Malaysia is the only market to register an annual decline in online hiring for this sector with -29 percent YoY between July 2015 and 2016, a 24 percentage point decrease from -5 percent YoY growth between June 2015 and 2016.
Meanwhile, the demand for Hardware, Software and Telecom professionals in the Philippines and Singapore is also on the rise, with a 23 percent YoY growth and 12 percent YoY growth respectively.
Once again, Malaysia is the only market in the report to exhibit an annual decline in online hiring for these professionals with a -48 percent YoY.
"We're seeing an increase in IT-related job ads across multiple industries, not just the IT sectors, seeking qualified candidates. This alone shows how businesses are recognising the need for such expertise in the workforce, in order to stay competitive in the business marketplace," said Sanjay Modi, Managing Director of online job portal Monster.com in Asia Pacific and Middle East, in a press release.
"This is a trend that is here to stay, and with government pouring investment into tech innovation in the region, we're likely going to continue to see sustained growth in demand in the months ahead," Modi continued.
